TCG Nordica redesign

May-June 2007 - TCG Nordica is a large culture centre in Kunming, South West China. Jonathan is the current gallery director there but the centre also contains a large stage, cafe, studios and education rooms offering training in a wide variety of art forms.

The centre had been running since 2000 but incorporating all these different elements into one building is difficult and a redesign of the space was necessary.

Jonathan, working closely with one Finnish/Australian architect, one Swedish aritecture student, one Chinese builder and many other staff members at TCG Nordica, came up with a redesign of the space to try and better accomodate all the different aspects of the centre's activities.

Typically for China the building work is very fast and was completed in about 8 weeks. The redesign is now in use with a much improved stage facility, extra education rooms, new cafe and more wall space for the gallery.
