'its like watching paint dry . . . but mesmerising!'

Much of Jonathan's recent work has involved making short films. There are now many films of glue flowing, dripping and moving at different speeds. One viewer at a recent exhibition exclaimed; 'its like watching paint dry, but instead of being boring, its mesmerising!'

Click any of the links on the left to see short samples of the films. To keep the file sizes down they are all reduced from DVD quality and are generally just a short clip from the longer film.

Non-glue films

Jonathan has also used film in many other art pieces. A small selection are available here.

Large screen to corner screen

The way these films are shown is a vital part of each piece. For example 'greens' has been shown on a very large screen at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts) London, as well as projected onto a screen that Jonathan built which was set at a 90° angle. Both of these settings dramatically changed the impact and look of this one 9minute film. The picture on the right shows the 90° screen and gives some impression of the way this set up breaks the flatness of the screen and gives a 3D feel to the film.
